Blue Ghost Fireflies
Blue Ghost Fireflies is a scarf woven on an 8-shaft loom with an undyed cotton warp and handspun weft, inspired by an encounter with blue ghost fireflies in Burnsville, North Carolina. The piece was informed by Sachi Niebler’s workshop, titled "Kami-ito and Shifu: From Paper to Cloth," which introduced the Japanese processes of transforming paper into thread and weaving it into cloth. Through folding, cutting, rolling, separating, spinning, boiling, and weaving, the workshop emphasized slow making.
